Electric Vehicles and Energy Storage Systems

Battery safety and reliability are critical in EV and energy storage systems. Formex insulation sheet is suitable for EV battery packs, onboard chargers (OBC), DC/DC converters, power electronics controllers, charging equipment and battery management systems. In the Chevrolet Bolt battery pack, Formex TCI is used for insulation and heat dissipation between cells and cooling plates, significantly reducing hot spot temperatures and extending battery life. In battery modules, Formex Mica is used for inter-cell insulation, effectively preventing thermal runaway propagation. In Toyota onboard chargers, Formex GS is used for insulation, ensuring reliability under high humidity and high voltage conditions.
